The "Ishikawadai" series is an extraordinary creation that takes us back to 1953, when it was produced by Ishikawa Seisakujo. This Japanese ring spinning machine, made by the same company, is believed to be the oldest of its kind still in operation today. Despite its vintage status, it possesses unique qualities that make it an invaluable relic in the denim production world.

Compared to modern ring spinning machines, the "Ishikawadai" operates at a much slower speed, roughly one-third of the pace. However, this slower speed brings fascinating advantages. The machine exerts minimal stress on the cotton fibers, allowing their natural qualities to shine. This results in a fabric with a natural, uneven texture similar to hand-spun cotton, a feature nearly impossible to replicate with computer-controlled machines. The intentional irregularity in the fabric's texture gives it an authentic, almost antique-like appearance, distinct from the uniformity of contemporary mass-produced textiles.

The warp threads, dyed with indigo, embrace the unique characteristics of the cotton without the usual thread refinement processes, preserving the cotton's distinct qualities. Additionally, the denim pays homage to the vintage denims of 1953, utilizing traditional, low-tech techniques throughout its production process.

Products crafted from the "Ishikawadai" denim hold a unique promise. With each wear, they undergo a transformation, accumulating stories and character much like vintage denim from bygone eras. These items are not just garments but living, evolving testimonies to the artistry and craftsmanship of the past. They celebrate history and ensure its perpetuation through each generation of wearers.

As many other SDA Jeans, the Ishikawadai jeans run slightly small in the one wash version. In general, we recommend choosing one size larger than your usual. However, as always, we recommend checking the size chart first to find your perfect size. It is unsanforized but one washed, so there will be no shrinkage.
